Common Questions
Q: Why do we need this program?
Across the country, many people are struggling with financial insecurity. Unfortunately, many people feel they are unable to provide for their animals and surrender them to a shelter. Most of the time, these situations are temporary and we created the animal food pantry to keep animals in their loving homes while their humans get back on their feet.
Q: What kind of food can I NOT donate?
Unfortunately we cannot accept opened, expired, or prescription food.
Q: Where can I donate?
You have a few options! Schedule a pickup: https://forms.gle/a7eNjh54PzkkAaSz6 OR bring donations to Open Space Gift Shop at 1875 Main St, Tewksbury, MA.
Q: What towns do you serve?
We serve Wilmington, Woburn, Tewksbury, Burlington, Billerica, Reading, and North Reading in Massachusetts.
Q: Do I need to provide any proof to qualify?
Nope! We don’t ask questions. We operate on the honor system and if you are asking for help, we believe you.
Q: Do you have a physical location?
Not yet! But we will pick up donations from you and deliver donations to families who request them!
Q: Do you only accept food donations?
No, we accept any items that a family may need. This includes: crates, flea/tick medication, animal shampoo, baby gates, collars / leashes, cat carriers, etc. If you’re not sure if it’s something we could use, feel free to email us at hello@rescueallies.com
Q: Are you a 501(c)(3)?
Yes! We are a program created under the 501(c)(3) Rescue Allies Inc.
Q: Are you affiliated with the Wilmington Food Pantry?
Nope! We are a separate entity, we have no crossover.
Q: Do you have plans to expand?
We plan to address the other main reasons people surrender their animals (vet care, housing, training) in the near future. Stay tuned!
Q: Are there other local services?
